Volodymyr Lytvyn: Books shall be affordable for every Person

On Wednesday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took part in the opening of the 4th Kyiv International Book Fair.

Delivering a speech to the participants and guests of the book fair, V.Lytvyn stated that "books shall be affordable for every person, copyright and intellectual property being protected." He believes that the authorities shall adopt relevant resolutions and control their implementation.   Assessing the legislative base of book publishing, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that "the laws are perfect; however, they are poorly implemented."

V.Lytvyn appreciates organization of the international book fair in Ukraine. "It is a possibility to see the achievements in this sector in Ukraine and abroad, as well as to discuss overcoming of a yawning gap between the publishing houses, books and people due to the destruction of the book distribution network", he stated.

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine underscored that modern information technologies would not substitute a book. "When people read and reflect, people enrich their mind", he stated.
