Mykola Tomenko: Ukravtodor Road Public Service of Ukraine believes that Repair Works on the Roads to Koncha-Zaspa and Mizhhiria were performed at Request of the UEFA
In the beginning of August, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, addressed the leaders of Ukravtodor Road Public Service of Ukraine with a request to account for the grounds and funds for the repair of ‘VIP roads´ from Kyiv to Koncha-Zaspa village, a place of residence of many high-ranking officials, as well as for the construction and roadway replacement on the road from Kyiv city centre to Mezhyhiria presidential residence.
Ukravtodor Road Public Service of Ukraine responded that a long-lasting problem of transport communications in the vicinity of the capital had to be regulated immediately due to the holding of the final part of the 2012 European Football Championship in Ukraine. The letter states that international organizations, UEFA among them, have issued warnings on this matter.
The letter also states that by 2012, Ukravtodor Road Public Service shall finish the repair and construction works on the motor ways to be used during EURO 2012: Kyiv-Chop, Kyiv-Odesa, Kyiv-Kovel-Yahodyn, Kyiv-Kharkiv-Dovzhanskyi; and improve the roadway Kyiv-Chernihiv-Novi Yarylovychi. The safety situation on the motor way Kyiv-Obukhiv and Kyiv-Vyshhorod-Desna has deteriorated due to the incompletion of repair works.
