The meeting was held on the request of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Ukraine. The Parties discussed development of bilateral relations and prospects of cooperation aimed at support of the inter-parliamentary dialogue between Ukraine and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. 

 

Mr Ahmad Nawaz Saleem Mela reported on the political situation in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, stressing that the country was willing to cooperate with Ukraine in political, economic, financial and humanitarian sectors.

 

Oleh Bilorus informed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary about the political situation in Ukraine. He also reported on setting up The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Deputy Group on the Inter-Parliamentary Liaison with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

 

The Parties focused their attention on the lack of direct air links between Ukraine and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which impedes establishment of direct business contacts.

 

Yevhen Dobriak, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Global Security and International Cooperation of the Foreign Affairs Committee, member of the Deputy Group on the Inter-Parliamentary Liaison with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, attended the meeting.
