The following members of the Ukrainian delegation attended the meeting: Oleh Bilorus, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Taras Chornovil, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee and member of the Ukrainian-Danish Inter-Parliamentary Group of Friendship, and Leonid Kozhara, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. The Danish delegation was headed by Eva Kjer Hansen, Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Parliament of Kingdom of Denmark. Michael Borg-Hansen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine, and Mogens Lykketoft, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kingdom of Denmark, took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Parties
discussed the issues regarding importance of the European perspective for Ukraine
and necessity of preserving the open door policy in the EU. The problems
regarding obtainment of the NATO membership action plan were also discussed.
Furthermore, attention was paid to the issues of power security and
diversification of the energy supply sources, problems of regional policy and
global security, as well as fighting corruption, and freedom of speech.
O.Bilorus, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, greeted the Danish colleagues, emphasising the fact that Ukraine and the Kingdom of Denmark "have traditionally warm relations supported by the Presidents and the Government." However, O. Bilorus stated that the bilateral relations on the parliamentary level were the most dynamic.
The Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark emphasised the importance of the present visit of the delegation to Ukraine, and expressed hopes that the visit shall facilitate strengthening of the bilateral cooperation at all levels. In particular, Eva Kjer Hansen drew attention to the issues of development of the bilateral relations and perspectives of the cooperation aimed at the support and development of the inter-parliamentray dialogue between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Denmark.
