Mykola Tomenko: Carpathian Region needs a New Strategy of Recreation
On Tuesday, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made a working visit to Zakarpattia region. He declared that the Carpathian region needed a new strategy of recreation.
He believes that a new strategy should be developed "in view of both chaotic construction of hotels in different regions of Ukraine, and climatic changes in Ukraine and the world."
"Zakarpattia region should work harder to develop recreational infrastructure", the Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated. "Experts predict that the climate in Ukraine will become warmer, thus the demand for such facilities as well as the number of foreign and Ukrainian tourists will rapidly increase."
M.Tomenko stated that The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was interested in such projects and would support organization of the International Training Conference "Sustainable Development of the Carpathian and other Mountainous Regions of Europe" on 8-10 September in Uzhhorod. "The Parliament will take part in adopting the resolutions on the grounds of recommendations of the conference participants", he stated.
