As Pere Joan Pons Sampietro agreed to take up a new position in the Government of Spain, he stepped down as a Member of Parliament and President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. In accordance with paragraph 8 of Rule 5 of the Rules of Procedure of the OSCE PA, the President is to be replaced by one of the Vice-Presidents of the Assembly, taking into account the length of their term of office and the number of votes received during their election.

Thus, as of today, Ukrainian Member of Parliament Mykyta Poturaiev has assumed the office of President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and will fulfill these duties until the election of a new President during the Assembly's Annual Session in early July next year in Belgrade for the 2027–2029 term.

"My priorities are ensuring a just peace in Ukraine with respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity, commitment to strengthening the OSCE, adherence to the Helsinki principles, and the promotion of shared values," emphasized Mykyta Poturaiev.
