New Opportunities For Veterans: The Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Launches Internship Programme

 The Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has launched the first programme for veterans. The initiative is intended to support male and female defenders of Ukraine, to help them put their gained experience and skills into civilian life, in particular in the public service.

According to the results of a competitive selection, 20 male veterans and 3 female veterans are currently taking part in the internship programme. Among them are representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Guard Border Service, the State Emergency Service, and the National Police. 14 of them hold the status of persons with war-related disabilities.

During three months, the interns will have the opportunity to familiarize with the inner work of Parliament, to find out more about activities of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and its bodies, engage in the legislative process, etc.

During the official ceremony dedicated to the launch of the programme, the Head of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Viacheslav Shtuchnyi, emphasized that the Parliamentary Secretariat is open to cooperation with veterans.

"We are glad to welcome you to the first internship programme. For us, it is important to create opportunities for the professional development of our Defenders. We are ready to support you along this path," emphasised Viacheslav Shtuchniyi.

He thanked the participants of the programme for their contribution to defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for their readiness to join the work of the Secretariat of the Parliament.

Veterans who already work in the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with interns. They shared their personal experiences of integrating into civilian life and the working at the public service.

In total, 75 veterans are employed across the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the enterprises, organizations, and institutions under its management.

The Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine remains open to cooperation with veterans and continues to create opportunities for their professional fulfillment and adaptation to civilian life.
