Delegation of Ukrainian Women MPs Headed by Olena Kondratiuk Begins Visit to Brussels to Advocate Key Decisions for Ukraine

Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk led a delegation of Ukrainian women MPs arriving in Brussels on a visit to the European Parliament.
The visit takes place within the framework of the European Parliament’s Women Empowerment Programme for Ukraine. “For Ukraine, it is the first such women’s political leadership program organized by the European Parliament. It is deeply meaningful to me that female MPs representing all parliamentary factions and groups of the Verkhovna Rada are present here in Brussels today," emphasized Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk,” emphasized Olena Kodratiuk.
During the meeting there are several meeting of the high level: with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, with the European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, with the Vice President of the European Parliament Ewa Kopacz.
We are participating in a program for women, but we are bringing issues to Brussels that are neither women’s nor men’s alone. These are matters of war, Ukraine’s security, and the future of both Europe and Ukraine within Europe: strengthening sanctions against Russia and countering their circumvention; guaranteeing long-term support for Ukraine in the EU’s next seven-year budget; assisting with air defense; returning deported and illegally transferred Ukrainian children; and granting Ukrainian MPs observer status in the European Parliament," emphasized Olena Kondratiuk.
According to the Vice Speaker, this is precisely where the strength of women in politics lies—in the presence of women where decisions are made regarding war and peace, security, international law, and the future of the continent.
"There is another vital meaning to this program. The European Parliament has begun engaging with the Verkhovna Rada not merely as the parliament of a country at war in need of support and solidarity. It is already working with us as the future parliament of a European Union member state. This is an important signal for Ukraine," emphasized Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk.
The delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine visiting the European Parliament also includes MPs Maria Ionova, Alina Zahoruyko, Oksana Dmytriieva, Yuliia Ovchynnykova, Halyna Mykhailyuk, Tetiana Skrypka, Iryna Gerashchenko, Iryna Friz, Yuliia Sirko, Larysa Bilozir, and Olena Kopanchuk.
