Veteran Support Is One of the Most Important Priorities of Parliamentary Work: First Deputy Speaker Pays Working Visit to the Dnipropetrovsk Region

First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko paid a working visit to the Dnipropetrovsk Region, during which he met with veterans, visited the I.I. Mechnikov Regional Clinical Hospital, and toured the Taras Shevchenko Dnipro National Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre.

“Their courage and self-sacrifice oblige us to work every day to strengthen our nation and support those who continue to defend it today,” emphasized Oleksandr Korniyenko.
During the meeting with veterans, participants discussed the key needs they and their families face upon returning to civilian life. Specifically, the talks addressed housing provision, maintaining benefits for family members, and the legislative changes necessary to strengthen veteran policy.
The First Deputy Speaker underscored that veteran support remains one of the vital priorities of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Several raised issues are already on the parliamentary agenda, while others require further refinement in coordination with relevant committees and the Government.
“Legislation must take into account the real-life situations of veterans and their families, providing effective mechanisms of support,” noted Oleksandr Korniyenko.
The First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada also visited the I.I. Mechnikov Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital. Together with the medical institution's leadership, he discussed the hospital's operations and the challenges facing the healthcare system in a frontline region.
Oleksandr Korniyenko emphasized that healthcare workers in the Dnipropetrovsk Region bear an immense workload: every day, they save the lives of military personnel and civilians, demonstrating extraordinary endurance and professionalism.
As part of the working visit, the First Deputy Speaker also toured the Taras Shevchenko Dnipro National Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre. According to him, under conditions of war, Ukrainian culture takes on special significance, helping to preserve national identity, process shared experiences, and continue creating even in cities living under the constant threat of russian attacks.
“Theatres, museums, libraries, and other cultural institutions must continue their work, remaining strongholds of the Ukrainian word, history, and art,” noted Oleksandr Korniyenko.
Concluding his working visit, the First Deputy Speaker underscored that the Dnipropetrovsk Region is currently holding the line on defense, treating the wounded, supporting veterans, working, and developing all at once.
“Such on-site meetings are crucial for parliamentary work: they allow us to hear specific problems directly from the people and understand what legislative changes they require,” emphasized Oleksandr Korniyenko.
