UNIC Co-Chairs Call on NATO and Partner Countries to Step Up Support for Ukraine

First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Riigikogu Marko Mihkelson, as Co-Chairs of UNIC, adopted a joint statement on further support for Ukraine.

  

In the statement, the UNIC Co-Chairs called on NATO allies and partner countries to step up their support for Ukraine at a crucial stage of countering russian aggression.

Among key priorities are strengthening Ukraine's air defence, ensuring stable and predictable ammunition suppliers, developing the Ukrainian defence-industrial complex, expanding intelligence support, as well as investmenting in unmanned systems and counter-drone capabilities.  

The document also emphasizes the importance of long-term training for the Ukrainian forces, predictable multi-year funding, and further sanction pressure on russia.

The UNIC Co-Chairs paid particular attention to the need to strengthen Ukraine's positions in any future negotiations, as well as preparation for the winter and the protection of energy infrastructure.

"Support for Ukraine is an investment in the collective Europe's security and the entire democratic world," emphasized First Deputy Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko.
