The Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Held a Meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova to Ukraine

Oleksandr Merezhko, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation, and members of the Committee held a meeting with Victor Chirilă, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine.

The key topic of the meeting was the discussion of the results of the Committee delegation’s visit to Moldova, in particular, the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation in the defense industry, creating joint projects, and exchanging experience on strengthening air defense systems and countering propaganda, disinformation, and misinformation, as well as developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation and hosting joint artistic events.

Special attention was paid during the meeting to the importance of strengthening cooperation in European integration, following the opening of the first negotiating cluster for the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union.

During the meeting, the interlocutors emphasized the importance of supporting the cultural identity of the Ukrainian community in Moldova and the Moldovan community in Ukraine.

The meeting was also attended by People’s Deputies of Ukraine Mariana Bezugla and Iryna Gerashchenko.
