The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted at first reading a European integration bill aimed at implementing EU law on energy market integration, enhancing supply security, and boosting competitiveness in the energy sector

On July 22, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted at first reading the draft law “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Implementation of EU Law Regarding Energy Market Integration, Supply Security, and Competitiveness in the Energy Sector” (Reg. No. 12087-d).

The draft law is aimed at:

implementation of EU norms into Ukrainian legislation,

development of a competitive energy market,

improvement of energy security,

strengthening consumer protection.

This step is part of Ukraine's commitments to harmonise its legislation with EU law and will facilitate further energy integration into the EU's energy space (market coupling).
