Despite martial law and ongoing challenges, Ukrainian flour millers continue to adapt to new conditions, redirect exports, and explore new markets, according to the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.
According to the Ukrainian Flour Millers Association, Ukraine exported 71.3 thousand tonnes of flour in the 2024/2025 marketing year. Moldova was the largest importer, purchasing 23.5 thousand tonnes.
The industry association noted that approximately 46% of total flour exports in the 2024/2025 season were destined for EU countries. The top five importers of Ukrainian flour included: Moldova – 20.3 thousand tonnes; Czech Republic – 15.3 thousand tonnes; Palestine – 10.8 thousand tonnes; France – 3.0 thousand tonnes; Spain – 2.9 thousand tonnes
Exports of other types of flour in the 2024/2025 season totaled 4.6 thousand tonnes (compared to 5.4 thousand tonnes in the 2023/2024 marketing year). The EU’s share in these exports amounted to 14%, down from 27% in the previous season.
The top five destinations for other types of flour in 2024/2025 were: Moldova – 3.2 thousand tonnes; Israel – 0.5 thousand tonnes; Croatia – 0.2 thousand tonnes; Bulgaria and Spain – 0.1 thousand tonnes each.
