The Chairman of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, Mykyta Poturayev, joined online the opening of two exhibitions at the National Library of South Africa (Cape Town):

1. «Great Ukrainians Who Changed the World»;

2. «Cradles of Freedom: Constitutions of Ukraine and the Republic of South Africa.»

The event was dedicated to the celebration of Ukraine’s Constitution Day and the upcoming Day of Ukrainian Statehood.

The event aimed to showcase Ukraine’s contribution to the world heritage and emphasize the shared values of Ukraine and the Republic of South Africa: freedom, human dignity, and democracy.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Ambassador of Ukraine, Liubov Abravitova, and representatives of the National Library of South Africa.

During the main discussion, participants reflected on the fundamental principles embedded in the constitutions of both countries, particularly the protection of human rights, the affirmation of personal and political freedoms, and commitment to democratic governance.

These values remain the cornerstone of our society and a source of resilience in times of challenges.

The opening of such exhibitions illustrates international solidarity, mutual respect for democratic values, and strengthens ties between Ukraine and South Africa.

The exhibitions were created and organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of South Africa in partnership with the National Library of South Africa and with the support of the Ichikowitz Family Foundation.
