This was stated by Member of Parliament, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, and Head of the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Yehor Cherniev.
«Both the European Union and NATO have special programs for the development of new technologies, funding specifically for new inventions in the field of military technologies. By joining these programs, we are effectively integrating into NATO. This is important as long as there is no political decision for Ukraine to become a full-fledged member of the Alliance de jure. Integration gives us access to new technologies. And this is a two-way road, meaning that our partners are also interested in acquiring certain technologies from us, as Ukraine has proven itself on the battlefield as an innovative nation, one that is able to defeat occupiers every day thanks to new technologies», - emphasized the politician.
He added that, thanks to Ukraine's privileged membership in the NATO Science and Technology Organization (STO), we, despite not being a NATO member, will have access to technologies, cooperation, and certain grant funding for our projects.
«In cooperation with our partners, our main demand is the return of instructors to Ukraine. Since 2022, many programs, including the British and Canadian ones, have been suspended on our training grounds in Ukraine. Their resumption will simplify our logistics and accelerate the training of our servicemen. I believe we will continue training our fighters both on their territory and ours, according to their standards and with their trainers,» the member of parliament concluded.
