The draft law No. 9490 on the strategy of integrated state border management adopted by the Parliament in the second reading is important, as it not only directly concerns the protection of our borders, but also brings us closer to the standards of the EU and NATO member states in this area.
This was stated by the MP, member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence Fedir Venislavskyi.
“The issue of defence, security, and protection of the state border is covered by Article 17 of the Constitution of Ukraine, which is one of the defining provisions of the Basic Law of Ukraine, which means that we have raised this important issue to a strategic level in full compliance with the Constitution. Accordingly, the law on national security of Ukraine will provide for the development of a separate strategy for integrated state border management,” the politician said.
According to him, the adopted draft law No. 9490 also provides for the implementation of standards adopted in the EU and North Atlantic Alliance member states in Ukraine.
“The document actually ensures the integration into Ukrainian legislation of the standards adopted in the member states of the European Union and NATO, which brings us closer to full membership in these organisations. Our system of protection and defence of the state border and state border control will meet the best international standards,” the MP said.
