Despite russia's military aggression, Ukraine harvested 79.2 million tonnes of crops

Despite russia's military aggression, Ukraine has harvested 79.2 million tonnes of new crops, the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy reports.

Thus, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, as of the end of December 2023, 86% of the corn area was harvested in Ukraine. This is the only crop that is still being harvested. The total harvest of the new crop is 79 million 200 thousand tonnes. Grain harvest totalled 58 million 392 thousand tonnes, and oilseeds – 20 million 764 thousand tonnes.

Grain and leguminous crops were harvested on an area of 10,542 thou hectares with a yield of 55.4 centners per hectare, including:

corn – 3,606.3 thou hectares harvested at a yield of 78.1 centners per hectare, with a harvest of 28 million 148 thousand tonnes

wheat was harvested on 4,694.5 thou hectares, yielding 47.9 c/ha, with a harvest of 22 million 478 thousand tonnes;

barley was harvested on 1 504.5 thou hectares with a yield of 39.3 c/ha, with a harvest of 5 mln 909 thou tonnes;

154.4 thousand hectares were threshed with a yield of 25.9 centners per hectare, and 399.5 thousand tonnes were harvested;

buckwheat was harvested on 140 thou hectares at a yield of 14.8 c/ha, with a harvest of 207.5 thou tonnes;

millet was harvested on 79.5 thou hectares at a yield of 22.7 c/ha, with a total harvest of 180.2 thou tonnes;

other grains and pulses were harvested on 362.6 thou hectares, with a yield of 1,070 thou tonnes.

Oilseeds were harvested on the area of 8,224 thou hectares, in particular:

sunflower was harvested on an area of 5,020.8 thou hectares, with a yield of 11 mln 980 thou tonnes at 23.9 c/ha;

soybeans were harvested on the area of 1 805.6 thou hectares, with a yield of 4 mln 779 thou tonnes at 26.5 c/ha.

rapeseed was harvested on the area of 1,396 thou hectares, with a yield of 4.5 mln tonnes and a yield of 28.7 c/ha. Harvesting has been completed in all regions.

Sugar beet was harvested on an area of 249.1 thousand hectares, with 11 million 879.5 thousand tonnes of sweet roots harvested at a yield of 477 centners per hectare.
