Ukraine is consistently moving towards fulfilling its European integration commitments in the energy sector. Andrii Gerus, the Chairman of the Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities, said this on the air of the United News telethon.

"I believe that in terms of energy, we have no delays in fulfilling the obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU. I can even say that the energy sector is one of the sectors that shows the greatest progress," said Andrii Gerus.

According to Andrii Gerus, the Committee is working to bring national legislation in line with a number of EU regulations.

In particular, the Law on Prevention of Misuse in Wholesale Energy Markets was adopted in the summer. Last week, the Parliament adopted the Law on the formation of minimum stocks of oil and oil products.

"Also yesterday, ENTSO-E (the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity) announced that NPC Ukrenergo (the Ukrainian transmission system operator for electricity) has fulfilled the main technical conditions to ensure permanent interconnection between the power systems of Ukraine and Europe. Therefore, the process of synchronisation between the Ukrainian power system and the European grid is complete," added Andrii Gerus.

Due to the successful completion of the synchronisation, ENTSO-E also decided to increase the maximum volume of electricity imports to Ukraine and Moldova to 1700 MW.

Thus, in the event of a shortage of electricity generation, additional volumes will be available for import.
