German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in an interview with the Canadian edition of The Globe and Mail, said that Canada's decision to hand over the Nord Stream 1 turbine to Russia deprived the Kremlin of grounds for reducing the supply of natural gas to Europe

"russia uses the turbine as an excuse to cut gas supplies. Prime Minister Trudeau's decision deprived russia of this opportunity and strengthened the position of Germany and Europe. Thanks to Trudeau, we exposed Putin's bluff. Since the turbine is ready for use, russia must resume its contractual obligations. If Moscow decides not to do this, let it be clear to the whole world," said Olaf Scholz.

The Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services welcomes the steadfastness of the sanctions policy of Germany and Europe aimed at the russian government and economy. It is essential for Ukraine that Europe continues to limit the financial resources of the Kremlin, which the Russian occupiers are currently using in waging war in Ukraine.
