The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy hereby addresses foreign reinsurers with the urgent requirement to suspend the performance of risk reinsurance contracts to the Russian Federation insurers

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy hereby addresses foreign reinsurers, namely Lloyd's, Swiss Re Ltd., Munich Reinsurance Company, Gen Re, Hannover Re, SCOR S.E., PartnerRe Ltd., Arch Re, AIG, Marsh, Willis with the urgent requirement to suspend the performance of risk reinsurance contracts to the Russian Federation insurers.
We are forced to address this appeal to you to take measures related to the introduction of the martial law in Ukraine under the Law “On Approval of the Decree of the President of Ukraine “On Martial Law in Ukraine” No. 2102-IX dated 24.02.2022”.
As the matter of fact, Ukraine is currently struggling to ensure the financial support for the Ukrainians and to counteract the military aggression of the Russian Federation in the financial field.
We strongly believe that it is inadmissible for the insurers of the aggressor state to reinsure their risks by international reinsurers, receive financial protection through reinsurance and provide financial support to the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
We truly hope that the reinsurers all over the world will make a considered and conscientious decision for the sake of peace in Ukraine and the global order.
