Adopted as a basis the draft Law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine 'On Citizenship of Ukraine' on Simplified Acquisition of Citizenship of Ukraine by Foreigners and Stateless Persons Who Participated in the Protection of Territorial Integrity and Inviolability of Ukraine" (No. 5630).
The purpose of the bill is to introduce a simplified procedure for admission to the citizenship of Ukraine (with the submission of a special declaration) for a foreigner who has outstanding services to Ukraine or whose admission to the citizenship of Ukraine is in the state interest of Ukraine.
In particular, the draft Law provides for the possibility of submitting declarations of renunciation of foreign citizenship together with the application for admission to the citizenship of Ukraine by the following categories of persons:
1) who in the order established by the legislation of Ukraine pass / passed military service under the contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
2) who, in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of Ukraine, perform military service under a contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and are awarded a state award of Ukraine;
3) who have outstanding merits or whose admission to the citizenship of Ukraine is of state interest for Ukraine;
4) who are citizens of a state recognized by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as an aggressor state and have been persecuted due to political convictions in the country of their citizenship.
