Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy Considers Two Environmental Bills on Compliance with Anti-Corruption Legislation. In particular, the members of the Committee considered the revised draft Law "On Prevention, Reduction and Control of Pollution Occurring as a Result of Industrial Activity" (No. 4167). The Chairperson of the Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy noted that the revised version of the draft law partially eliminated the corruption-causing factors to which the Committee drew attention, however, the question remains as to the lack of clear grounds, criteria and procedure for the permitting body to make a decision on granting a derogation from environmental standards or refusing to grant it. The Committee heard the authors of the draft law and decided to recognize the bill as meeting the requirements of anti-corruption legislation with remarks.
The members of the Committee also considered the draft Law "On State Environmental Control" finalized for the first reading (No. 3091). One of the authors of the bill, Oleksandr Marikovsky, reminded that bills No. 4167 and No. 3091 were considered during the joint meeting of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management and the Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy. According to him, during the finalization of the bills, the authors tried to take into account the remarks on non-compliance with anti-corruption legislation.
The members of the Committee decided that the revised version of the draft law No. 3091 meets the requirements of the anti-corruption legislation with remarks.
