The Committee on Freedom of Speech supported the bill on the temporary inclusion of national multichannel broadcasting programs using a radio frequency resource in the universal program service in the area of repulse of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation

At its meeting, the Committee on Freedom of Speech considered the draft Law No.5546 "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine" On Television and Radio Broadcasting " (on the temporary inclusion of national multichannel broadcasting programs using a radio frequency resource in the universal program service in the area of repulse of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation).
The bill is aimed at ensuring information security of the population in villages, towns, cities, districts and regions, where military-civil administrations are formed by providing guaranteed temporary access to domestic programs of television and radio organizations in packages of universal software service providers.
The draft law proposes to temporarily, until the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine abolishes the recognition of a certain state as an aggressor state (occupying state), to supplement the list of programs included in the universal program service with programs of national TV channels that provide national multichannel (digital) broadcasting, using the radio frequency resource.
The members of the Committee supported the bill and decided to propose to the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy to recommend to the Verkhovna Rada to adopt it as a basis in the first reading.
