Online courses of the Educational Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for schoolchildren and students were presented in the Parliament on June 2. Opening the event, Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratyuk noted that in today’s dynamic world, knowledge of one’s civil rights and responsibilities has the highest value. The Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada stressed the importance of the parliament's dialogue with the public and educators. She appealed to teachers to involve children and young people in the Education Center's training courses.
President of the Eastern Europe Foundation Viktor Lyakh noted that the support of the Verkhovna Rada Education Center and parliamentary education remains a priority for the Foundation's work. He noted that the Education Center of the Verkhovna Rada was one of the first parliamentary centers in the world which switched to the online format of work during the quarantine.
Taras Pastushenko, Head of the Information Department of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada, spoke about the structure of training courses. According to him, they should become a powerful tool of communication with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The Educational Center has been operating in the Verkhovna Rada for almost two years, during which time more than 60,000 pupils and students attended its classes and events, 47,000 of them online. This indicates the interest of young people in the work of the Verkhovna Rada and their willingness to cooperate with it in online formats.
The online courses of the Educational Center of the Verkhovna Rada are designed for schoolchildren and students in order to deepen their knowledge of the peculiarities of the activities and functions of the Parliament of Ukraine.
The online courses were developed by the Education Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine within the USAID RADA Program implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation.
