The Committee on Education, Science and Innovation recommends adopting the draft law on improving the scientific and methodological support of education and the quality of educational literature

At the field meeting of the Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, MPs considered the draft law No. 5465 on improving the scientific and methodological support of education and the quality of educational literature.
The draft law is designed to establish clear requirements for the quality of educational literature, primarily that used in general secondary education, and a mechanism for verifying compliance with these requirements.
The draft law proposes to:
- establish the list of powers of the central body of executive power in the field of education and science concerning scientific and methodical maintenance of education, in particular concerning maintenance of quality of the educational literature;
- clarify the rights of other institutions and organizations on scientific and methodological support of education;
- establish the list of principles to which the educational literature should correspond, and to define the phenomena inadmissible in the educational literature (academic plagiarism, falsification and fabrication, discriminatory statements);
- determine the mandatory examination of educational literature produced at the expense of the state budget for compliance with the requirements of the legislation.
Based on the results of the discussion, the Committee recommends to the Verkhovna Rada to adopt as a basis the draft law No. 5465 on improving the scientific and methodological support of education and the quality of educational literature.
