The Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine

Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Oleksandr Merezhko met with newly appointed Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine Pier Francesco Zazo on the occasion of the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine. At the beginning of the meeting, Chairperson of the Committee O. Merezhko congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and expressed hope that his tenure would help strengthen friendly relations and constructive cooperation between our countries.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on a wide range of issues, namely the importance of cooperation in economic, cultural, judicial and scientific spheres.
Chairperson of the Committee O. Merezhko informed the Ambassador about the creation of a new format of consultations and coordination - the Crimean Platform, as a tool to increase the effectiveness of the international response to the ongoing occupation of Crimea, and expressed hope for the Italian side to join this initiative.
The Ambassador assured of the Italian Republic's continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, as well as Ukraine's movement towards EU and NATO membership.
Particular attention was paid to discussing the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation. In particular, inter-committee meetings by videoconference on the international agenda, the development of Ukrainian-Italian relations and other issues of mutual interest, as well as the importance of exchanging visits between committees after the removal of quarantine restrictions.
