The Committee on Digital Transformation discussed the practice of application and implementation of the Law on Basic Principles of Cyber ??Security of Ukraine No. 2163-VIII.
Deputy Chairpersons of the Committee Oleksandr Fedienko noted that in recent years significant efforts have been made to establish and develop the national cybersecurity system. "The important stage in its institutionalization was the adoption of the Law "On the basic principles of cybersecurity in Ukraine". However, many issues need to be refined and improved," he added.
Representatives of state bodies, in particular, the National Security and Defense Council, the State Special Communications Service, the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service and others took part in the discussion.
Based on the results of the review, the Committee recommends that the Cabinet of Ministers and relevant authorities accelerate the development of draft laws on the definition of critical infrastructure of the state; to settle the issues of legal mechanisms for the implementation of an independent audit of the activities of the main actors of the national cyber security system; development of scientific potential and dissemination of cyber literacy, etc.
This will effectively counteract existing cyber threats, verify the existence of a comprehensive information security system in institutions, conduct inspections and take immediate measures to stop possible information leakage and create a full-fledged comprehensive information security system.
