Representatives of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation of the Verkhovna Rada met with Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Parliament of Georgia

The meeting of members of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation headed by Chairperson of the Committee O. Merezhko and members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Parliament of Georgia headed by Chairperson of the Committee N. Samkharadze took place. The meeting was initiated by Chairperson of the Committee O. Merezhko. The meeting was also attended by MPs from the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation, from the Georgian side - representatives of the Committee, Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Chairperson of the Georgia-Ukraine friendship group.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on a wide range of issues. In particular, they discussed the development of bilateral political dialogue, intensification and strengthening of Inter-Parliamentary cooperation, the internal situation and further steps of integration into the EU and NATO of both countries, the security situation in the Black Sea region and the current situation in the occupied territories of Ukraine and Georgia.
The parliamentarians of Ukraine and Georgia drew attention to the need to deepen cooperation between our countries at all levels, in particular between the permanent delegations to the Inter-Parliamentary assemblies in order to mobilize broad international support for Ukraine and Georgia in the fight against Russian aggression, introduction of effective mechanisms for international monitoring of the situation and protection of human rights in the occupied territories, as well as deoccupation of the occupied territories.
Particular attention was paid to the continuation of meetings within the framework of the Ukraine-Georgia-Moldova Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, including the European Parliament.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the possibility of exchanging visits at the level of Committees and Chairpersons of the Parliaments of Ukraine and Georgia in the near future.
