The Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy recommends adopting the draft Law on bringing the legislation of Ukraine in the sphere of baby food in line with the requirements of EU legislation

The members of the Committee considered the draft law No.4554 "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Bringing of the Legislation of Ukraine in the Sphere of Baby Food in accordance with the requirements of the EU legislation". The draft law proposes to bring the legislation of Ukraine in the sphereof production and circulation of baby food to the requirements of EU legislation by repealing the Law of Ukraine "On Baby Food" and amending a number of laws of Ukraine, which regulate: food safety and quality; state control in the field of food safety and quality; human health; advertising activities.
Adoption of the draft Law:
1) will promote the creation of conditions for providing infants and young children with safe and quality baby food;
2) will increase production and expand the range of baby food products in Ukraine;
3) will improve the legal regulation of issues related to the safety and quality of baby food;
4) will allow to harmonize national legislation in the field of child nutrition with the requirements of European Union legislation.
Based on the results of its consideration, the Committee decided to recommend to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to adopt the draft law No. 4554 as a basis.
