The draft law "On the computation of time in Ukraine" (Reg. No. 4201) registered by First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk has been adopted as a basis. "For" - 277 MPs of Ukraine.

According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, the bill is aimed at protecting the health of the population.

"According to most scientists and doctors, this procedure for computation of time has a number of negative consequences, causing a significant deterioration in the health of citizens during the period of adaptation to "summer" and "winter" time. Such a "seasonal time jump" leads to a change in human biological rhythms, which negatively affects the general condition of human, both physiological and psychological," stressed the First Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.

It has also been proven that computation of time does not contribute to energy saving.

"The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has not conducted research on the economic feasibility of computation of time to 'summer time'. Such studies were conducted by the State Commission for Uniform Time and Reference Frequencies of Ukraine. The commission came to the conclusion that in the modern era, the introduction of summer time does not lead to energy savings," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The First Deputy Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also explained that the approach set forth in the law is in line with world practice.
