The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine heard the Government with a report on the settlement of the situation regarding tariffs for the population

The Parliament chaired by the Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov held a meeting on settlement of the situation with gas and electricity tariffs for the population with the participation of representatives of parliamentary factions and groups, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, representatives of relevant departments.
Following the meeting, it was decided to hear the Prime Minister of Ukraine with a report on measures to resolve the situation with tariff increases at the Conciliation Council of parliamentary factions and groups on January 25 and at the plenary session of the Parliament on January 26. This proposal of Dmytro Razumkov was supported by representatives of all parliamentary factions and groups.
“Tariff formation is the area of responsibility of the Cabinet of Ministers. Unfortunately, Parliament cannot take over its functions. But we need to work out a single concept of settlement. It is important that all citizens of our state understand how this will happen,” noted the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov.
Members of Parliament heard information from the Government's leadership on measures planned to resolve the situation with the increase in gas and electricity tariffs for the population.
Representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informed parliamentarians that it is proposed to introduce state regulation of gas prices for the quarantine period, but not longer than the current heating season. In addition, according to the Government, it is planned to monetize benefits for electricity consumption for heating. The effectiveness of the measures proposed by the Government will be discussed in more detail in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on January 25 and 26.
