Today, the world celebrates International Human Rights Day, marking the 72nd anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

This document is the basis of international human rights standards. Ukrainians were also involved in its creation. The author of the first article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a Ukrainian, international lawyer, academician and scientist Volodymyr Koretsky.

The article formulated by Academician Koretsky reads as follows: “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.” Human rights are the foundation of freedom, the measure of justice and peace throughout the world. Let's value our rights. Let's defend them. And let everyone's rights always be protected!
