Committee on Public Health, Medical Assistance and Medical Insurance

The committee heard on March 2 the health ministry’s information upon the   preparedness of the health care system to possible epidemic complications related to the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Afterwards, committeemen also considered the draft bill No.2735 that amends certain legislative acts regulating drug prices. The purpose of the bill is to take measures to more severely regulate and then reduce drug prices in Ukraine. The bill encharges the Cabinet of Ministers with establishing wholesale and retail product margins for drugs and medical goods, then pegging them down in parallel to a narrow corridor of 7 and 15% correspondingly. Following careful consideration of the bill, the committee recommended that VRada reject the paper.

Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy

The committee considered the bill on extra grounds for the dismissal of the director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).

At its 3 March sitting, the committee saw into the bill No.2656 “On amendments to the Law of Ukraine ”On the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine” concerning grounds for the dismissal of the NABU director through a corruption or corruption-related offence”. The bill suggests some additional dismissal grounds for the above wrongdoings. After intense scrutiny, committeemen have decided to recommend that the parliament send the bill for revision prior to its second reading. However, they advised to take the bill on the first reading for now.

The committee also made a try to check the draft resolution No.3039 “On dismissal of A.Sytnyk from the post of the Director of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine” for compliance with Ukraine’s anticorruption law. The conclusion made was, however, voted then down.
