  • Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy

On February 21, the committee held a round table on the practice of law enforcement of Ukraine’s anticorruption legislation. The event was held with the participation of the National Academy of Public Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine.

The сommittee is thought to become a high-powered platform for discussing the most important issues that affect not only the anti-corruption area of law but also are of impact to other spheres.

The fall 2019 did bring a sweeping reform aimed at overall regeneration of local prosecution agencies, and the above academy’s role in this process can hardly be overestimated. Moreover, a special training centre, which is being established at the moment, will also be located in the said academy.

During the roundtable, there were discussed a number of issues on applying anti-corruption legislative acts in criminal proceedings by prosecutors and possible mechanisms for its improvement.

In the course of the event, scientists exchanged their views upon the current anti-corruption legislation and the law enforcement practice with representatives of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (aka SAP) and the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine. The deputy chairman of the High Anti-Corruption Court informed about the work of the newly created body. All the participants emphasized the need for a systematic approach to amending the codes.
