The Verkhovna Rada permanent delegation took part in the 19th Winter Meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
The OSCE PA Winter Meeting was held in Vienna, Austria on 19-21 February. At the meeting, parliamentarians tackled anti-Semitism, intolerance, protracted conflicts, climate change and human rights.
The VRU delegation was made up of its head MP Mykyta Poturaiev, MPs Artur Herasimov and Hryhorii Nemyria as his deputies, and MPs Volodymyr Voronov, Vadym Halaichuk, Pavlo Frolov and Nestor Shufrych as well.
Ukrainian delegates took part in sittings of the OSCE PA Standing Committee, three general committees and in a special event dedicated to the murder of Russian opposition leader and former First Deputy Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov.
They informed the conferees about the current security situation in eastern Ukraine, problems of environmental security of eastern Ukraine, violations of human rights in the temporarily occupied territories – certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts (regions) and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as prospects for negotiations on peaceful settlement in the east of Ukraine.
