Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appoints Denys Shmyhal as Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine

By 266 votes, the Parliament supported the Resolution #2767 and dismissed Aliona Babak from the office of Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.

 

After that, 278 MPs voted for the Resolution #2768 to appoint Denys Shmyhal as Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.

 

Denys Shmyhal, aged 44, Candidate of Economic Sciences, currently Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast State Administration; previously, for a short period of time, Director of the Burshtyn State Rayon Power Station. Shortly before the New Year, he was regarded as the most likely candidate for the position of Head of the Lviv Oblast State Administration.

 

It is remarkable that the position of Vice Prime Minister is re-established; that official will be in charge of regional matters in the Government; this emphasizes the importance of this area of work.
