The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans’ Rights

The committee held on December 9 a task meeting with delegates of the NATO Representation to Ukraine. The meeting was also attended by Christopher Shtaudt, a manager of the NATO-Ukraine Programme of social adaption of servicemen.

The parties discussed the issues of social adaptation of military personnel and the process of transition from a military career to a professional - civilian one. Christopher Shtaudt presented a modern model of general, systematic professional support tools for military personnel aimed at retaining cadres.

The committee chairwoman Halyna Tretiakova highlighted the issues of high priority that need a wider elaboration in terms of professional support and adaptation of servicemen to Ukraine’s civil society and civilian life on the whole.

She also expressed confidence that pooling efforts of MPs, executive bodies, civic organizations and the mass media could create cleared conditions and lay down a secure foothold for military personnel to be able to realize their knowledge, skills, and attainments  even after expiration of their contracts.

In conclusion, the parliamentarian observed that through both privileges and, in no way second, sureness about the future there can be given a mighty boost for people to be in the army.
