Ruslan Stefanchuk suggested building a roadmap for cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova

On November 15, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Deputy Speaker of the Moldova’s Parliament Mihail Popsoi.

Participants of the meeting discussed the intensification of inter-parliamentary (IP) cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova and further widening interaction between the countries.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed the constancy of Ukraine’s course towards European integration and called for the necessity of further strengthening friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the Moldovan side for its stable and longstanding relations with Ukraine, the country’s consistent and principled position regarding protecting Ukraine’s sovereignty and annexation of the Crimea.

The first vice speaker of the Verkhovna Rada marked positively Moldova’s voting in the PACE upon the inadmissibility of returning the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly without fulfilling its  commitments. Ruslan Stefanchuk then suggested building a Ukraine-Moldova road map to identify common legislative interests and cooperation priorities.

In his turn, Mihail Popsoi briefed the Ukrainian side about the political situation in Moldova and expressed a wide interest for exchanging legislative experience in the realm of justice.

The Moldovan vice speaker also expressed his sincere wish that Ukraine be more broadly represented in the Moldovan media, seeing that the local Ukrainian diaspora is the largest one among those represented in Moldova.
