Participants of a strategy-focused session on parliamentary communications planning discussed the state of play in implementing the Communication strategy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

The session was dedicated to the implementation of the
Verkhovna Rada’s communication strategy aimed at building confidence to the
parliament and its perception as an effective institution by citizens, civil
society organizations, the mass media and the international community.
The event was organized under the auspices of the EU-UNDP Parliamentary Reform Project. The session was attended by Ukrainian parliamentarians, employees of secretariats of the Verkhovna Rada committees and the Verkhovna Rada apparatus, representatives of the mass media and public organizations.
During the session, they discussed improving efficacy of parliamentary communications through the prism of target audiences’ needs and developing a logical matrix for the coming three years.
The discussers got acquainted with researches on the sources of public information over the parliament’s work, as well as exchanged their own visions upon ensuring an effective and high-quality dialogue between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the media and the society.
Emphasized was there the need to develop mobile versions for official websites of public authorities so that the people could quickly receive up-to-date information. They also spoke about the need to modernize the Verkhovna Rada’s web-portal and strengthen communications through parliamentary social networks.
The next strategic session focused on the implementation of the Verkhovna Rada’s communication strategy is to take place in the near future.
