Vice speaker cements ties with Croatian Republic

The Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Ukraine Anica Djamic

On the Independence Day of the Republic of Croatia, the vice speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to Ukraine Anica Djamic.

The vice speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament thanked Anica Djamic for the consistent support of Ukraine by Croatia in the difficult period of confronting the aggressor, struggling for the restoration of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"The Republic of Croatia and the friendly Croatian people are a striking example of a dedicated struggle for their freedom and dignity.  We are ready to take over your wide experience in many issues of restoration of state sovereignty, a peaceful re-integration of occupied and annexed territories, returning refugees, mine clearing, humanitarian aid, etc.,” Olena Kondratiuk emphasized.

The parties discussed further implementation of the National Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Strategy approved by the Croatian Parliament for the period 2015-2020, which provides for humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

At the same time, Olena Kondratiuk extended her kind request to the Ambassador to soon receive a group of Ukrainian soldiers for rehabilitation in Croatia.

During the meeting, the vice speaker stressed the importance of intensifying the Ukrainian-Croatian inter-parliamentary cooperation, building further dialogue at the highest parliamentary level, and parliamentary friendship groups.

In the context of future presidency of the Republic of Croatia in the European Union, Anica Djamic assured the vice speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of further support for Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO, implementation of specific projects, in particular - educational projects.

In her turn, Olena Kondratiuk broached the issue of legal and social protection of Ukrainian migrant workers who work in the EU countries lawfully.

One of the topics discussed was the exchange of experience in gender justice, equal representation, opportunities, and remuneration of labour of men and women.
