Invited by Atlantic Council, VRU's antigraft delegation visits Washington, USA

A Ukrainian parliamentary delegation was invited by the Atlantic Council to pay a three-day working visit to Washington, USA (September 24-26, 2019)

https://iportal.rada.gov.ua/images/infupr_committees/agrarny/%D1%96%D0%B2%D0%B0%D0%BD%D1%96%D1%81%D0%BE%D0%B2%202.jpgThe delegation consisted of Ukrainian parliamentarians-members of the Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy: Olena Moshenets, Oleksandr Tkachenko, Roman Ivanisov, Ivan Shynkarenko, and Valerii Sterniichuk. The purpose of the visit was pointed at a wider presentation of the new parliament’s priorities and national anti-venal initiatives.

In the course of the visit, the American party was well informed of the immediate measures in plans of the Ukrainian authorities vectored at a wider and faster combating corruption.

The delegates held a meeting with Senator Chris Murphy, a member of the Democratic Party, who heads the United States Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation, where they talked over the anti-corruption activities. Chris Murphy stressed Ukraine is an independent democratic country that should act only in its own interests.

The same issues were raised when meeting with another Republican – Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, who did assure the Ukrainian side of the party’s willingness to keep on assisting Ukraine.

During another meeting with the Verkhovna Rada delegation, representatives of the U.S. Department of State Bradley Freden and A. Surin underscored that the United States is well interested in protecting Ukrainian borders by high-tech military means and providing Ukraine with security assistance.
