Committee on Public Health
The committee took stock of the results of its work during the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the eighth convocation. During the term, the committee has held seventy roundtables on issues important for social evolution.
During the five years, the committee has regularly discussed issues relevant for the development of health care with the medical community, professional medical associations, patients’ organizations, national and international experts, and representatives of local governments.
The committee has addressed 15,371 letters and applications.
The committee's work has been focused on developing and improving health care legislation, reforming the national health care system, creating legal conditions necessary for improvement of accessibility and quality of health care to the population, increasing the availability of medicines, enhancing the social protection of health professionals, developing professional medical self-government, rendering medical support to participants of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) and the Joint Forces Operation (JFO), etc.
The body has also prepared some one hundred thirty draft bills and resolutions, held eight parliamentary hearings. Based on the results of those hearings, there was approved a range of relevant recommendations together with specific proposals pointed at polishing the methodology of troubleshooting in the related spheres.
