While around the region, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine I.Herashchenko visited on July 2 the communal enterprise "Ivano-Frankivsk regional hospital for war veterans". The facility was established in 2016 for medical and psychological rehabilitation of the military. Last year alone, there were treated more than 2,250 combatants, ATO veterans and family members of the fallen, as well as 18,350 people were managed in the outpatient setting.
The first vice-speaker got acquainted with the work of the establishement, had ample talks with the team and military veterans. She thanked the head physician and the hospital staff for their self-sacrificing work.
She noted that one of the major goals of the recently established Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine was and is reintegration of former servicemen into a peaceful life, and then stressed that the ministry is solely responsible for the state policy in this area. The politician reminded that the Parliament had approved in February the law of Ukraine on a unified state register of war veterans, which provides for the creation of a special war veterans register, that the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine is in full charge for. The register is thought to start its working rather shortly.
Within the framework of the "Library for Donbas" campaign, Iryna Herashchenko handed over to the hospital a whole pack of modern books from the best Ukrainian publishing houses.
Additionally, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Parliament expressed her conviction that the law on military chaplaincy would be adopted the next plenary week.
During her visit, Iryna Herashchenko met also with residents of Kosiv and Burshtyn towns, having discussed with them a wide range of topical issues.
