Friday’s plenary sessions are over

  The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy opened the Friday’s plenary meeting.

He supported the chucking out of an odious pro-Yanukovych’s lawyer A.Portnov, pushed by the students’ protests.

 

Morning session

 

Today’s agenda

The Chairman briefed on the agenda items that had been proposed for reviewing today. The list of issues to be considered at the plenary meeting on the 21th of June:

1.           Bill No.3112-1 of draft Electoral Code (second reading);

2.           MPs’ interpellations.

The presiding officer then informed that the members of the Cabinet of Ministers, headed by the First Vice-Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv, were taking part in the meeting.

The questions hour began.

The presiding officer gave the floor to the First Vice-Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv, who then delivered his report on the current state of play in reforms carried out by the government.

Afterwards, the ministers answered the questions from the floor on:

·        global recession, other risks and the government’s steps to counteract them;

·        Russian influence upon Ukrainian banks;

·        work of the "ProZorro" platform in supplying railcars to agrarians;

·        treatment of fields with harmful substances;

·        Ukraine’s gas production and pricing;

·        heating season preparations;

·        gas arrears of the population;

 

·        disconnection of electricity for Luhansk and nearby mines through debts and the threat of flooding the mines;

 

·        water supply for the western Donbas;

 

·        reduction of medical personnel in military hospitals;

 

·        the “affordable medicine” program;

·        emoluments for medical universities workers;

 

·        participation of the ministers in elections;

 

·        state budget-funded advertising of the government;

 

·        road maintenance in the Vinnytsia and Luhansk regions;

 

·        illegal gambling business.

 

In his closing speech, the First Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv thanked the Verkhovna Rada for the fruitful cooperation and then addressed his appeal to the chamber to adopt some draft laws of the essence, including the bill on concession.

The questions hour ended at this point.

The presiding officer read out MPs’ interpellations. Parliamentarians made their statements, announcements, and proposals.

The presiding officer closed the meeting.

The next meeting of the parliament shall take place on July 2.

The next calendar week will be dedicated to voter education.
