During the meeting of the Conciliation Board on June 18, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Herashchenko stressed the importance of signing by the president the bills adopted previously.
It is, in particular, about the draft law No.10183 "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the implementation of EU law in the field of technical regulation" and an updated energy Annex 27 to the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
The politician stressed that Ukraine’s society is keeping a close eye on the first foreign visits of the President of Ukraine to the Normandy Four countries. “Foreign policy advisers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine have prepared theses of high grade, which continue the rhetoric of the foreign policy course introduced by Petro Poroshenko," I.Herashchenko noted.
The politician emphasized the importance of preventing direct negotiations with the separatists and reminded of a trilateral format of the group in charge of a peaceful settlement of the situation in the east of Ukraine with the participation of representatives from Ukraine, the Russian Federation and the OSCE.
The First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also stressed that the Minsk negotiations are derived from the Normandy format. "The Minsk process is actually in collapse because of the destructive position of the Russian Federation. Therefore, it is worthwhile to intensify the negotiations in the Normandy format," Iryna Herashchenko convinced.
The politician also highlighted the importance of sending a signal about disallowing the Russian return into the PACE walls, since there are no prerequisites for such a return at present.
During her speech, I. Herashchenko also supported the statement of the "Equal Opportunities" organization and drew attention to the inadmissibility of inappropriate remarks about Ukrainian women that were heard from the President of Ukraine during his official visit to the French Republic.
The politician also expressed her hope that the temporary parliamentary committee of inquiry would finally submit to the parliament a report based on the results of investigations of the attacks against public activists in the very near future.
