At the morning plenary session on May 28, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Herashchenko stressed the importance of the adoption of the VRU’s draft resolution "On changes in the administrative organization the Donetsk Oblast, alteration and establishment of new city limits of the City of Horlivka and the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk Oblast".
Iryna Herashchenko reminded that during the period of the ATO and JFO operations, after the liberation of human settlements from illegal armed units, the Ukrainian parliament had repeatedly made decisions on changes in the administrative (and territorial) organization of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and restoration of social and pension payments in those territories.
"We are very grateful to the Ukrainian military, who have already released a few kilometers of Ukrainian land during the period of Ukraine’s Joint Forces Operation. Dozens of families live now in the liberated territories, under the Ukrainian flag, and they all have the full right to receive social and pension benefits," said I. Herashchenko.
The first vice-speaker called on representatives of all parliamentary factions and groups to support the draft resolution No. 8576 so that Ukrainian citizens in the liberated lands would start receiving payments in the near future.
According to the voting results, the resolution No. 8576 attained 230 votes in favour.
