Together with the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Iryna Herashchenko, he congratulated all Ukrainian pressmen on the Journalist’s Day. “This profession is utterly important and honorable in every democratic society,” he said. “Journalists not only seek for and distribute information, but they are also meant to be fighters for freedom of speech, they are those who make a difference in protecting and defending media freedom and pluralism”.
He then sent his additional thanks to Ukrainian journalists, who “are sometimes victims of threats, underpaid, or faced with precarious working conditions. In Ukraine, under the ongoing hybrid war, modern journalists have become true warriors of the information front”.
I.Herashchenko also called on all executive authorities to create a unified register of wounds, deaths and captures of Ukrainian journalists.
The Chairman gave the floor to representatives of parliamentary factions and groups who then made their announcements, statements, reports, and proposals.
Parliamentarians went on considering amendments to the bill No.7440 on supreme anticorruption court. 1871 amendments were reviewed.
The work shall continue at the next plenary meeting.
The presiding officer closed the morning session.
