Macedonian-Ukrainian talks on education

A delegation of the Republic of Macedonia led by the Head of the Parliamentary Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with Ukraine of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia (the Sobranie) Jovan Mitreski paid a flying visit on May 29 to the Ihor Sikorskyi Kyiv Polytechnic Institute within the framework of their official travel to Kyiv. The delegation was accompanied by high-ranking Ukrainian and Macedonian officials and politicians.

The guests looked around the local library and museum and met with the institute’s leadership.

The meeting was attended by Serhii Sydorenko, Doctor of physics and mathematical sciences, professor, corresponding member of NASU, Pro-rector of research and educational work (foreign affairs), his deputy Yevhen Polishchuk and others. They told the guests about the history and the present of the institute, as well as the innovation activities of Kyiv ‘polytechees’.  After the presentation, the participants of the meeting discussed likely cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.

New stage of relations

Andrii Shynkovych, head of the parliamentary group:  “Ukraine and Macedonia start a new phase of their business relations”.

Ukrainian-Macedonian relations are moving to a new level thanks to the active work of their politicians and diplomats. This was stated at a meeting with the Macedonian delegation by the head of the Parliament’s Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Republic of Macedonia Andrii Shynkovych.

He reminded that in last March there had been the group of friendship established by the Ukrainian parliament.  Macedonian colleagues created the respective group in September 2017.  Within this time span, a number of official meetings have taken place in Kyiv and Skopje, including the visit of the Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin to Macedonia.

The MP also emphasized that during the visit to Skopje in November 2017, the Ukrainian delegation had been able to see that the Macedonian market could offer many affordable and high-quality goods.

The parliamentarian thanked the Macedonian guests for their cooperation.

As the follow-up of the visit, there was agreed to enhance economic and political cooperation of the countries.  During the meeting, Ukraine undertook to take on vacation some groups of Macedonian children and establish a cultural exchange between students of both countries. At the end of the meeting, the participants called for deepening of cooperation between Macedonia and Ukraine at the parliamentary and government levels.
