On May 29, Iryna Herashchenko, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met with a delegation of the Republic of Macedonia led by the Head of the Parliamentary Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with Ukraine of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia (the Sobranie) Jovan Mitreski.
During the meeting, there was a wide range of bilateral issues discussed together with the intensification of the inter-parliamentary dialogue, and the trade and economic cooperation, in particular.
Iryna Herashchenko informed the Macedonian delegates about the progress of reforms in Ukraine, in particular, about decentralization, deregulation, having lingered round the law of Ukraine "On privatization of state and communal property" adopted by the Parliament, which promotes transparency of privatization processes a lot.
She also expressed her hopes that in June the bill "On Supreme Anticorruption Court" would be passed.
The politician also told about the deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation in the Donbas, the increase in shelling, the deaths and wounds, including the latest tragic news of the Ukrainian children killed.
When informing of the work of the TCG’s humanitarian subgroup, the First Vice-Speaker noted that the release of hostages remained blocked, and they were in a complete isolation both in the temporarily occupied Donbas and in the Crimea.
In his turn, the Head of the parliamentary group Jovan Mitreski stressed the need to intensify cooperation between the countries and at the inter-parliamentary level, in particular.
He assured that the Republic of Macedonia would support all initiatives of Ukraine aimed at the political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict.
The meeting was also attended by a wide range of high-ranking Ukrainian and Macedonian politicians and parliamentarians.
