The Agreement (Reg. No.0010) envisages creation of preferential mechanism for acquisition and termination of citizenship for citizens of Georgia and Ukraine. Its ratification will promote prevention of statelessness and double citizenship in participating states.
The Agreement provides an opportunity to resolve the issues concerning citizenship in full compliance with national legislation on single citizenship in Ukraine. Pursuant to its statements, each Party recognizes citizenship of only one country. Implementation of the Agreement will eliminate cases of statelessness and double citizenship regarding persons that will change citizenship in accordance with the said agreement.
